5. Are paintball guns considered firearms?
5. No, paintball guns are not considered firearms by state or federal law. The definition of a "firearm" under Colorado Statute 18-1-901 (3)(h) "Firearm" means any handgun, automatic, revolver, pistol, rifle, shotgun, or other instrument or device capable or intended to be capable of discharging bullets, cartridges, or other explosive charges. ** A paintball gun is also NOT considered a firearm under federal law as it is powered by air, same as a bb gun, if it were considered a "firearm" you would be required to under go a background check prior to purchasing one. However we do require everyone to excerise all firearms safety rules when using a paintball gun as they can cause injury.
